The Feminist - The Archetype!
A feminist is a person who advocates for social, political, and economic equality between the sexes.
To put it simply, a feminist believes that everyone should have equal rights and opportunities, regardless of gender. Nobody should face discrimination due to their gender.
Systems or customs that lead to inequity ought to be questioned and altered.
Women, men, and nonbinary persons can all be feminists; what matters is your beliefs, not who you are.
There are different types of feminism, but they all share the core idea of gender equality.
1. Liberal Feminism
Focus: Equality via opportunities and legislation.
It holds that systems such as education, employment, and legal rights can be fixed to effect change.
For instance:
Equal compensation for the same work for women
Legislation granting women the right to vote, own property, and assume leadership positions
Equal educational opportunities for boys and girls
👉 "Give everyone the same rules and chances" is the central concept.
2. Radical Feminism
Deeply ingrained power structures are the focus of radical feminism.
It contends that significant change is necessary since inequality is ingrained in society, particularly through patriarchy (male-dominated structures).
For instance:
Defying stereotypes such as "women should always be carers"
Challenging power disparities in partnerships or the workplace
Considering problems like gender-based violence as systemic rather than individual incidents
👉 "The system itself needs to change, not just the rules" is the central thesis.
3. Intersectional Feminism
Focus: Various facets of identity.
It asserts that racial, class, religious, disability, and other factors all contribute to gender disparity.
For instance:
The challenges faced by an affluent and an impoverished woman may differ greatly.
Women of colour may experience prejudice based on both their race and gender.
Policies should take into account more than one "type" of woman.
👉 Core idea: “Not all women experience inequality the same way.”
4. Cultural Feminism
It emphasises qualities that are frequently associated with women as equally valuable, such as empathy, compassion, and intuition.
For instance:
Leadership approaches that put cooperation ahead of control
Appreciating emotional intelligence in the workplace
Promoting respect and good pay for carers (teachers, nurses)
👉 "Feminine qualities are powerful, not inferior" is the central thesis.
5. Ecofeminism
Focus: The relationship between nature and women.
It makes a connection between environmental exploitation and the exploitation of women.
For instance:
Women spearheading campaigns for environmental protection
Promoting eco-friendly lifestyles as a way to achieve justice
Assisting rural women impacted by climate change

WHAT FEMINISM IS NOT
1. Feminism is not about hating men. Many believe feminism is anti-men, which is not. It challenges the systems of inequality, not individuals. We can still appreciate all genders, raise sons and still support equality.
2. It's not about being better than any other gender. It's never about dominating. It's about balance and fairness.
3. It's never about copying others. It's a broad movement showing many perspectives while respecting others.
4. Feminism is never against marriage or rejecting femininity. It's never about blaming everything on MEN or the PAST.
THE DYNAMICS
1. Man pays - Woman receives. Man initiates - Woman waits
Today's woman influences this idea by bringing equivalent contributions. It's all about the capacity of sustaining things. Both share emotional growth by understanding each other. There's no blaming game.
2. Earlier, women weren't able to share much or talk about their boundaries. It's never about being a feminist in the wrong sense now. Today's dynamics allow all genders to listen and shift from expectation-based to mutual agreement-based. There's no pressure but understanding.
3. Men are beginning to understand their inner selves. They are working on their shadow selves as well. The need to shift from that toxic masculinity to healthier relationships. Let's put it this way: Men are unlearning those rigid structures and developing more emotionally healthy relational skills.
- From Fake Positivity to being Authentic
- It's okay to be vulnerable sometimes
- Ability to express uncertainty without losing self-worth
- Shift from Dominance to True Leadership
- Emotional Soulful Intelligence
4. Women are now choosing differently. The move or the shift to focus on the career journey/life purpose. The need to focus on their healing journey. Women are also not expected to choose a partner when they reach a certain age. On the other hand, men are also changing, allowing them to better understand what they really want in life.
5. Balance is becoming important in any relationship. They know it's never about who should win. No one should be on autopilot. Conversation is important, not avoiding or blaming others.
